Tragically, however, history tells us that when a despot is “deposed”, an equivalent regime, or worse, takes over power. The feeding frenzy amongst the political “elite” brought about by the end of a particular regime inevitably results in the acquisition of the huge spoils waiting for them, to be gained by way of even more corruption and brutal tyranny – they want no-one else to get their hands on the riches that they see within their grasp.
